The Cooksville Crusaders
are a hockey team consisting of players who are intellectually
disabled, and who love the game of hockey.
This
team started with only 5 players in September of 1994. It has steadily
grown to its present-day enrolment of 30.
The
league gives players the opportunity to participate in the game of hockey,
while teaching good sportsmanship, skating, hockey skills,
and what it is to be an integral part of a team.
Not
only is the sport of hockey Canada’s national pastime, it is an
incredibly fun way to improve gross
and fine motor development.
We
are a non-profit
organization and, therefore,
operate and rely completely on fundraising, donations and fees.
Our
coaches are volunteers, friends and/or parents of the players.
